SOUND INSULATION
Sound insulation (building acoustics) – sound energy losses propagating through the building structures between the sound source and the listener.
Sound insulation can be divided into two groups:
Isolation of airborne sound and isolation of impact sound insulation.
The ability of structures to isolate sound (sound that is unwanted is called noise) is based on the strict laws of physics (objectively). But the consequences of sound insulation, i.e. how much noise has passed through the partitions is assessed more subjectively. In addition, sound insulation is measured in logarithmic units in dB (decibels), where the user-normal arithmetic actions “1 + 1 = 2” do not apply. As a result, sound insulation and its evaluation become very complicated, knowledge and experience in this field are particularly important. The quality of the contract work and the assessment of the sound propagation of adjacent roads play a very important role in the performance of sound insulation.
Measurements and evaluations of sound insulation properties of building structures are also performed. Tasks for architects, constructors, designers are prepared in accordance with the applicable requirements and recommendations. We help the client to create a sound insulation task and explain the requirements of the task. We calculate and simulate the sound insulation properties and sound propagation through structures in a building. We prepare projects for the sound insulation part, perform evaluation and audit of selected solutions. We supervise contract work, inspect objects and consult.
Lithuania National Martynas Mažvydas Library Sound recording studio was equipped according to our projects in acoustic interior, architectural acoustics, sound insulation and noise control. Contract control was also established at the site.
Business centre “Quadrum East” was finished in 2016. It is one of the best objects for commercial use in Lithuania. While the building was being set up, a lot of attention was dedicated to questions regarding sound insulation, room acoustics and noise control.
Lithuania music and theatre academy LMTA music innovation study centre was opened in 2014. There are 3 acoustically sensitive spaces in the centre: spherical sound recording studio, studio montage and control room, auditorium. We have prepared architectural acoustics, acoustic interior, sound insulation and noise control projects for the spaces above. The projects were completed with contract control.
